Animal feed manufacturers generally supply the farming community as well other customers. SARS have a VAT exemption for
registered entities that allows the entity to purchase registered goods without paying VAT.
The problem is that non registered entities purchasing the registered goods must pay VAT. In other words Fred is registered with SARS for VAT exemption
for animal medicines (which are also registed as VAT exempt). Joe on the other hand is not registered for VAT exemption.
Fred walks into the store and makes a number of purchases of which one is VAT exempt. Joe does the same thing but VAT is applicable on all his purchases.
Standard Point-of-Sales system cannot deal with this so the operator needs to query both sales with admin which results in a lenghty point-of-sale experience for the customer.
FenyaPOS deals with this because VAT exempt customers and products are flagged, therefore when the exempt customer makes the purchase, VAT is automatically withheld from medicines and applied to all other products. This is done without human intervention
A medium to large wholesaler recently purchased 15+ retail outlets accross the country. The challenge for the wholesaler was to link all the stores to the Pastel Accounting backend and to control stock.
